“Love the Ride” unplugged from Sonata Sessions

We had the pleasure of playing our hometown of Imperial, NE on July 17th for the first stop of Hear Nebraska’s Good Living Tour. After the show, stood under the stars and recorded an unplugged version of “Love the Ride” – one of our favorite songs off our latest album, Places. (See write up and video below)

The Talbott Brothers – “Love the Ride” (Live from Sonata Sessions)

“Love The Ride” by The Talbott Brothers | Sonata Session

As Nick and Tyler Talbott stand elbow to elbow in a dark, Imperial, Neb, backyard, bleary eyed at 1:30 a.m., there’s a bittersweet meeting in their voices between joy and woe.

On one hand, their hometown lies before them: in their eyes, the perfect place to settle down, grow a family and cultivate a career. Comfort and security unfolds from their lips in crisp harmony.

The alternative, the path that pulls more strongly from within, is a touring career and a rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle the offers sprawling vistas and new experiences: The Ride.

There is resolution in the end as their voices strengthen, affirming the decision that seems at once to tear them apart inside and give them hope. In a way, it’s as though they sing tearfully and consolingly to a lover: I’m sorry, baby, but this is what I was meant for.

Watch The Talbott Brothers perform “Love The Ride” by lamplight — little more than an hour after their 2015 Good Living Tour appearance in their hometown Imperial.

PLACES is now available on iTunes!

Places Digital Album Artwork

Two years have passed since the release of “The Road” in 2013, and we’ve been a lot of places (pun intended) not just geographically, but in our music career, relationships and day-to-day lives. After playing more than 300 shows and traveling coast to coast, we knew recording a new album was long overdue. As we put our noses to the grindstone we discovered that for us, writing on the road is better than writing anywhere else. We’re able to constantly draw from new experiences, conversations and gain inspiration from some pretty spectacular views. The songs on this record were written from the Atlantic to the Pacific and then glued together in the middle of the US. The title, “Places,” just came to us during the #DriveOnTour last spring. We felt like all of these songs painted a picture of where we’ve been and what we’ve gone through over these past couple of years. Our goal with this album was to keep the music honest, simple and stripped down; hoping that these songs find you well and relate to the places you have been, are and will be going.
